JYOTHILAKSHMI AND JAYAMALINI

Jyothilakshmi and Jayamalini are sisters and the elder actress Jyothilakshmi entered films in the 60's mainly in Telugu but also appeared in other languages as well.In the early days she used to act in supporting roles but when her skill as a dancer was revealed and much liked by the audience , she was given item dance numbers,vamp roles,comedy roles etc mostly.

Jyothilakshmi is still looking good and young and she is keeping young at heart also.In 2012 she danced for two Telugu films 'Jaganmohini' and 'Kuberalu'.In a long career span of about five decades she has appeared in more than 1000 films in languages like 'Telugu,Tamil,Malayalam,Kannada and Hindi'.
Jayamalini, who is the younger sister of Jyothilakshmi (was born on 22 Dec 1958) also followed her elder sister's path and became one of the top dancer mostly presenting item numbers,vamp roles etc in languages Telugu,Tamil,Malayalam,Kannada and Hindi.Both of them appeared together in dance scenes of certain films also.Both of them reigned the item dance sector of films for a long period.

JYothi Lakshmi has earlier appeared in main roles of films and acted in many Telugu films opposite Superstar Krishna.The sisters have acted along with superstars like MGR,Sivaji Ganesan,Jaishankar,Prem Nazir etc.
In the 60's Jyothilakshmi handled well noted roles in several Malayalam films. She handled supporting role in the film 'Murappennu ' which was a super-hit film directed by A.Vincent in 1965 which was scripted by M.T.Vasudevan Nair.
Her role as supporting actress in 'Nagarame Nandi'(67) which was also directed by A.Vincent and produced by Shobhana Parameswaran Nair received accolades.
She also acted in supporting roles of well noted films like 'KunjaliMarakkar,Inspector,Kodungallooramma' etc during that period.Later she acted

in films like 'Dwantha Yudham,Palattu Kunjikkannan,Manushya Mrigam,Avesam,Sanchari, Thadavara' etc.

Jayamalini also acted along with Jyothilakshmi in Malayalam films like 'Avesham,Dwantha Yudham,Palattu Kunji Kannan, Thadavara,Sanchari etc.
The birth place of the sisters is Sullurpetta in Andhra Pradesh.
After retirement from films Jayamalini has settled in Chennai.
