The Shahid Kapoor - Alia Bhatt - Kareena Kapoor - Diljit Dosanjh movie Udta Punjab is in deep trouble due to censorship issues. The CBFC – chaired by the BJP-appointed Pahlaj Nihalani – is said to have reportedly demanded an alteration of the narrative with as many as 89 cuts. The makers were apparently even asked to drop ‘Punjab’, and suggested that the film be set in a fictitious setting instead of a particular state.

While the Udta team is receiving a lot of support from colleagues and well-wishers, comedian Kapil Sharma mentioned that you cannot just ignore the drug problems that exist in Punjab. Kapil tweeted, “Families have lost their youth to easy drugs and lack of rehabs in the state.. so can’t shut our eyes to this. Those who say that there are no drugs or illegal medicines easily available in Punjab..dont know the real pain of Punjab.”
